Akita
Our first product — a sign language learning app that adapts to your country's sign language, starting in Ecuador.
Overview
Akita is a sign language learning app — the studio's first product, launching in Ecuador and expanding across Latin America. It starts from an insight most learning apps ignore: sign languages are national, not universal. Every country has its own sign language, and most apps pick one and ship it everywhere.
What it does
- Teaches Ecuadorian Sign Language first, through structured, adaptive lessons.
- Is built to adapt its curriculum and vocabulary to each country's own sign language as it expands across Latin America.
- Accounts for regional variation within Ecuador.
Per-country adaptivity
Sign languages are national, not universal — Ecuador's sign language and those of its neighbors are distinct languages, as different from each other as spoken ones. Akita launches with Ecuadorian Sign Language and treats the learner's country as the first design input: curriculum sequence, vocabulary, and regional variation all follow the national sign language, with expansion across Latin America planned.
Capabilities
- Ecuadorian Sign Language curriculum
- Per-country curriculum adaptation as we expand
- Regional variation support
- Adaptive pacing and review
